FAQ
Is my prompt stored?
No. The API keeps metadata of each request — time, model, token counts, cost — and never the prompt or the answer. The chat's history lives only in your browser. Private models (marked private) also run in a TEE, so the provider cannot read the prompt either.
Where does the AI come from?
From NEAR staked into the NEAR AI "Staking for Inference" farm. The farm turns the stake into NEAR AI Cloud credits; those credits are the day's budget. New buyers do not pay for it; their NEAR joins the stake.
Why did my ⚡ change?
Your ⚡ is your share of all free tokens times the day's budget. It moves when the stake changes, when others buy or sell, when yesterday's leftovers change, or when your balance changes. For tokens you keep, it falls at most 5 % a day once trading is open (50 % a day during the airdrop). During the airdrop ⚡ per token is also capped, and the cap rises every day.
Why do I get ⚡ only tomorrow?
⚡ for a day is given at 00:00 UTC for the balance read the day before: balances are read once a day, at 23:45 UTC. Tokens bought before that reading count from tomorrow.
How does the airdrop work?
It comes in waves. Each wave has its own list of accounts and its own snapshot; an account can be in several waves, and what it gets adds up. Each wave is claimed on its own, on the airdrop page, within its window — 30 days unless the wave says otherwise. What nobody claims in time is never burned: it goes into the next waves. Not in a wave so far? That says nothing about the next one, but no future wave is promised to anyone.
Why can't I sell yet?
Transfers open once, when trading starts, and never close again. Until then airdrop tokens stay where they are, so nobody can snipe a market that does not exist yet.
Can I swap my tokens for the staked NEAR?
No. The staked NEAR is never redeemable for tokens, so a price crash cannot drain it. Community stakers take back their own stake.
What happens if NEAR AI stops serving us?
The API stops answering until it is restored; your tokens, the stake and its rules stay as they are on chain. The cut-off plan is published before launch.
Can my agent use it?
Yes: the API is OpenAI-compatible. Create a key, set the base URL, and point the agent at the skill file; it says how to behave when ⚡ runs out.
Does staking earn NEAR?
No. The validator keeps 100 % of the staking rewards — that is what pays for the AI. Stakers earn BRRRAIN from the trading fees and the trading tax and keep their principal.
